ASTM Compliance

Pipe Renewal products are fully compliant with ASTM F2561, F2599, F3097 and F3240. Pipe Renewal has helped shape the trenchless technology industry into what it is today. In fact, these standards would not be possible without decades of dedication and refinement of the process invented by our founder, Larry Kiest Jr. To read more about our story, visit About Us.

ASTMF-2561

F-2561 is a standard practice for the reconstruction sewer service lateral pipe and its connection to the main pipe without excavation. This is done by using a resin impregnated one-piece main and lateral cured-in-place (CIPP) lining that is installed into the sewer pipe by means of inversion. Once cured, the trenchless sewer line replacement consists of a continuous, one-piece, tight-fitting, corrosion-resistant pipe that extends over a predetermined length of the sewer lateral pipe and provided a structural sealed connection to mainline liner.

ASTM F-3097

ASTM F-3097 is a standard practice for installation of an outside sewer service clean-out through a minimally invasive small bore created by a vacuum excavator. Most clean-out installations are installed and are complete with same day restoration (SDR)

ASTM F-2599

F-2599 pertains to requirements and test methods for the sectional cured-in-place lining repair of a pipeline by the installation of a continuous resin-impregnated textile tube into an existing host sewer pipe by means of air or water inversion and inflation. The tube is pressed against the host sewer pipe by air or water pressure and held in place until the thermoset resins have cured. Once cured, this sectional trenchless sewer line replacement liner shall extend over a predetermined length of the host pipe as a continuous, one-piece, tight-fitting, corrosion-resistant and verifiable non-leaking cured-in-place pipe (CIPP).

ASTM F-3240

ASTM F-3240 is the standard practice for installation of seamless molded hydrophilic gaskets for long-term water tightness of cured in place rehabilitation of main and lateral pipelines.

The Benefits

An open-cut alternative that stands the test of time

Less Invasive

When dealing with delicate, outdated, or failing infrastructure, heavy-duty excavation machinery and open-cut digging can often cause more problems than they solve. Furthermore, open-cut excavation is disruptive to traffic, residents, local business, and can be unnecessarily dangerous to construction workers. Trenchless technology is a better alternative to open-cut pipe replacement because it works from the inside out to repair, reseal, and reinforce existing sewer lateral and main piping.

Cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) repair can be accomplished with a small-bore hole or an accessible manhole as an access point.

Less Disruptive

Our exclusive, patented cured-in-place pipe lining technologies create a pipe within a pipe, but at a fraction of the cost of excavating, replacing, and backfilling an entire system.

This repair method has put a stop to tripping hazards due to sidewalk removal, tedious traffic delays, and unnecessary large-scale construction sites in residential neighborhoods. Without the down-time required with open-cut methods, you can ensure a quick, well-installed repair that will stand the test of time and traffic.

Pipe Renewal specializes in trenchless rehabilitation for municipalities and water/sewer utilities throughout Florida. Storm events, tidal influence, aging infrastructure, and construction materials that are vulnerable to failure, like baked clay and cast-iron piping, have made it necessary for smart, effective, and cost-efficient ways to repair sewer and drainage systems as quickly as possible.

Meet Our Founder

Larry Kiest, Jr. is an innovator, inventor and entrepreneur who has helped shape the trenchless technology industry for more than 30 years. A third-generation master plumber,  Larry founded LMK Technologies in his hometown of Ottawa, Illinois, in 1993. He later moved south to Fort Lauderdale, where he has been CEO of Pipe Renewal, LLC since 2006.

Larry was introduced to the family business at an early age. He spent the last two years of high school working at his father’s shop. Upon graduation, he went straight to the union hall to get his union card. Larry credits his father for fueling the passion that has made him an internationally respected leader and speaker in the trenchless technology industry.

In 2013, Larry was awarded the Trenchless Technology Person of the Year award. In 2014, he received the Chicago Innovations Award for his inventions for sealing sewer collection systems. In 2019, he was recognized as a Standard Bearer by NASSCO, the National Association of Sewer Service Companies.

Larry has authored five published ASTM Industry Standards relating to trenchless technologies for renewing and sealing sewer collection systems. He is the inventor of more than 250 patents issued in 14 countries relating to the rehabilitation of underground sewer systems, with a major focus on gasket sealing and long-term water tightness for sealing collection systems from groundwater infiltration.
